i bought a sheet of 22 gauge steel and im wondering will it rust if i dont paint it?

I think all raw steel will rust.

unless you're in the desert, it's rusting as I type.

Fun little experiment is wipe raw steel with acid, rinse with water and watch it rust before your very eyes.

It will even rust if you don't paint it properly.

Just the moisture in the air will cause it to rust. Most sheet steel has some oil left.on it from being worked but sooner or later it will start to rust.
