Stator removal

only way to do with without crushing the back of the flywheel is with a flywheel puller.. they are CHEAP. like around $12 on ebay... and bleieve me you'll get your money worth out of it for $12

where you located? if your close to here i'll let ya borrow my puller. oh and your going to need a way to hold the flywheel OR.. use an impact to loosen the nut.. some guys have good luck with a strap wrench around the flywheel.. i have tried it and it didnt; work for me at all but i have seen people get it done.. i built a tool to hold the flywheel. mines built for banshees though. it holds by the holes on the face of the flywheel..

if u have the plug in shouldnt be any prob zapppin that sucker off...and as stated unless u are really lucky and already sheared the woodruff key then it maw be loose..otherwise invest the moneyy....

the engines compression is not gonna hold back teh force applied to loosen that nut IF. it was properly installed.

Did you machine the tool from some metal stock? I figure that could probably be done or just go and buy a spanner wrench that fits. I think that's the proper name for this type of tool. When I took my bolt off, I did it the WRONG way and stuck a wedge in between two gears to hold the flywheel. It worked though.

JUST pull the clutch cover off and stick ur finger between the crank and balancer gear. And if u have a specialty nut and bolt place by ur house u can maybe find a bolt that will thread into the flywheel..drill and tap a 1/2 hole in the center stick u a bolt in it and there is ur tool..but much easier to buy..

problem is thats a HUGE bolt and it's left hand thread.. and a VERY fine thread too..

OHHHHH ya....reverse...buy a tool...i remember we made one for a polaris predator...actuaally the dude at the machine shop did...but he cut threads on lathe or something...well take the nut off and maybe u get lucky...y are u taking it off anyway>

you're definately better off just paying for the flywheel puller. And when I took mine off, the puller has a bolt with I believe a 16mm hex head on it, and a 21mm place to hold the flywheel. I let the 21 rest against my footpeg while I crnaked on the bolt and the footpeg held it great...never thought of a strap wrench but this way seemed easiest.
