So I just bought a nice 2001 blaster for like $500, only problem was it had no spark. I tested everything and determined that the source coil was bad. I was looking at the plate that holds both of the stator's coils and saw some timing marks for +/- 10 degrees on it. I am new to these four wheelers and I was wondering at what timing adjustment these engines run best at?

Im guessing you have a aftermarket stator. The stock stator cannot be turn it has solid holes. Most of the aftermarket ones should be set at zero if you want stock configuration. Hope this helps...

depending on what mods you have most people run a +4 advance if you have little to no mods i would run a little less like a 1 or 2 if you have lots of mods such as big bore port and polish pipe larger carb then id look at around 4 that seems to be the best set up... others who have much more high end set ups such as for dune and drag run a little higher i havent seen anyone running higher than 6 on this sight though (im sure there is some though)

Thanks guys, that helped. All that's done to this bike is a Pro Circuit pipe and silencer with a K&N air filter so I'll probably try to set it around the 1-2 degree mark. Is there a spot or mark on the engine casing somewhere that the timing marks on my stator need to line up with?
