Starting Problems 2006 Blaster

Hey all,

I'm having some problems with my Blaster and i was hoping that someone might have some advice.

after a full days use yesterday my quad was running a bit rough, not starting first kick etc, i thought nothing of it, as its been used a lot and i put it down to a bit of arthritis on the quads behalf.

however at i turned off the engine to have a rest and when i tried to start it again it wouldnt start, even tried bump starting it by using my friends quad to tow it.

i have taken the carb off, cleaned it, scrubbed at it in a bowl of petrol, used a foot pump to blow through the jets to try and make sure they arent blocked, cleaned the spark plug (it creates a spark), checked all the wiring etc etc.

the petrol seems to get through to the carb but not any further, the spark plug is bone dry as is anything past the carburetor.

Make sure your air filter is clean and check your reeds. You are sure your carb is clean and flowing gas? It's always best to do a compression test to.

thanks for your reply! im just about to give the air filter a clean, its an aftermarket K&N one and has been working fine, will give the jets another clean, have just located a manual so i know whats what!

know what a compression tester is? used one before? very simple, and id suggest gettin a leak down tester for future reference, if you ever need one hit up slickerthanyou, he makes em

Hi again all,

after having a proper check of the quad, i located a problem with the reeds, as suggested (thanks!) one of the reeds had been pushed through one of the 4 holes, no idea how, but i bent it back into shape, heated it to make it more flexible then ironed both sections flat again.

it now runs, however its still running rough, almost making a rattling sound? maybe the bearings?

two questions, anyone know a good replacement reeds set, (i live in the UK) and ideas about the rattling sound?
