im running the stock sprockets right now which im sure is the 13/40. i hear alot on the forum about switching to 14/40. which makes more top speed but lower acceleration? i ride mostly on trails and i mostly ride with my stock tires instead of my holeshots cuz i need to get on a little road to get to the trails so should i just still with the 13/40 gearing?

When they say "lower acceleration" it really does NOT kill your low end, just increases the taller gearing a bit, to smooth out the powerband and allow a little more pull up top before it flattens out. Very functional, and definitely a nice upgrade for the blaster no matter what kind of tires you are running. Just do it, cheap easy upgrade that really wakes up the short stroked/geared blaster, in any riding condition...

So what happens when you mess with the rear sprocket? Going up and down in teeth?

Good info in this thread btw that I've been searching for....

which chain do you get for a 14-40 gearing?

what do you mean by which chain? well i guess u can buy the whole set with chain and sprockets but you can just order the sprockets seperatly and they should fit with the stock chain. just make sure you get it specifically for your blaster

Ok so I just ordered a 14 tooth front sprocket....I know the stock rear sprocket is a 40 tooth...so would it be overkill to go to a 42 tooth to get more acceleration? I am going to bump it up some now that I just picked up a banshee axle from a local Virginian (thanks Shaun). Watching a brake rotor setup on ebay right now and may wind up getting it tomorrow if the bids aren't up too high.
