what gap is everyone running? i currently have .032 but am putting a new one in and all the new ones are .028 out of the box. any recommendations? and whats best for performance? thanks

thanks for replying, but i was also wondering if there is a difference, performance wise or anything? run cooler, hotter, make it leaner or richer?

can't effect timing the stator tells the spark plug when to spark. it just effects the length of the actual spark and not duration. the spark will be either .028 or.032 whatever you set it at. I would set it at the larger end personally just bc a bigger spark means a better fule ignition. but you can't go too big or the compression can actually blow the spark out kinda like a match gets blown out.

If you had a stronger coil, then there would be a bonus to a larger gap, a bigger spark has a better chance of igniting fuel. (like an HEI GM distributor) The problem is that it takes a significantly stronger spark to cross a larger gap, whether the requirement grows exponentially or not, I'm unsure. With a stock coil, you go with stock gap.
