solvents in crank case

No need to mix with 2 stroke oil, lubrication is not provided by premix.

But if my memory serves me well I told you all that in post 12 of the Rod play thread.

Unknown to many, premix contains very little if any lubricating properties if used as a flushing agent.

Lubrication is provided by the oil that comes out of suspension and pools in the crankcase.

Plain old gas can be used to flush out the cases.

You must however put 2 stroke oil in the crancase before fitting the top end.

About a tablespoon of oil in the case and some on big and little end and a squirt down each of the main bearing feeders.

Kerosene, diesel fuel, furnace oil, paint thinner, varsol, methyl alcohol will all work.
Some are a bit hard on the seals (paint thinner and varsol) and methyl alcohol is hard on the aluminum but evaporates quick (fire hazard!).
I often use "expired gasoline (old petrol)". You know, that gas that has set in the tank too long and gone "punky"?
Its fire hazard is less than fresh gas and I have no other use for it.

Fresh gas is probably the worst fire hazard, but if you do the cleaning out of doors with all safety concerns, it works.
