My sight glass has always looked black to me and I could never tell the level. Today, I decided I would drain the tranny so I rode around for a while to get it nice and warm then drained it. Once empty, I could see inside the sight glass. I took off the top cap as I drained it and let it drain for about 30 mins. Decided to go with type F trans fluid as I had a quart layin around. I installed the drain plug and set the funnel,,prepared to put in 3/4 of a quart (about what came out)..
I put in about 1/4 of a quart and thought I'd look to see if I could tell through the sight glass and,,,it was totally covered in red..I went ahead and put in the 3/4 of a quart, capped it, and rode it..
Still looks totally covered.. what's the deal? I searched everywhere and 3/4 of a quart was recommended, and I know that's just about what came out.. so, should I ignore the sight glass, knowing I have 3/4qt in it? or drain some out till its in the sight glass? ~ my gut says leave it as is.. Anybody else have this issue?
Thanks for the help..

says 650ml right on the side of the case, thats roughly 3/4 quart, i'd leave it alone, and if it doesnt leak any, just change it monthly with new 650ml

have you ever had the clutch cover off ??? only thing i can think of to throw off the fluid level in the sightglass is an abundance of clutch material laying in the bottom, making it read high ????

No, I've never had it off.. it operates nicely..smooth shifts, no slippage etc. Just came back in from taking it out for a spin down the trails and across the fields. Maybe the next oil change should include cover removal...
