I know some one who can cut the head for me for nothing because he has a lathe but would i be better off with a longer con rod or is it worth money

Are you talking about having the head chamber redone or are you talking about having the head milled? If your just getting milled then it's not going to do alot. Having the chamber done will. It has to be done just rite.
Why not get the stroker crank and then get the free head mod done.Just remember each mod you do there is another mod that will work in conjunction with it.
my buddy just lapped the squish band down on his to about 1/2 the origional thickness and it made a noticable difference. I rode his quad before he did it and it was pretty crappy. after he shaved the head a little and did the diy timing mod it really packed a decent little punch. going to a stroker crank takes a lot of upgrades around it to get a decent amount of power out of it.
Can you do this by yourself ...I have a few pits in my head so I lightly sanded them out , can I just adjust my timing for the material taking out of the squish. this is what it looks like http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff473/mac2mac2/02232011369.jpg

Its best way to make lots of cheap power.
However you will have to have the cylinder ported to work with the extra stroke, Im not sure if you have to port the cases as well but its not a bad idea anyway.
