I'm pretty sure you don't need to take off the gas tank cover, front fenders, or hood. It helps to take off the air box for more space.

it would be easier with the plastics off....have u seen the oconner bushings for the 400ex shock yet, makes it a 10 second bolt on mod for the top mount
