Shift Star

Look at my post on the first page. I did mine exactly like that and it works wonders. You barely tap and its in gear. No more shifting and its still in the same gear.

here's a pic of mine i did last night. gotta get some tranny fluid and give it a quick ride!!!

Should so put this in the DIY section... and also where can i get the star shaped one as an extra incase I F-up my "tweek" and also what kind of tools did you use.. i have an angle grinder.. and a dremmel but i think theres a bench grinder where i work on my quad so I will have to check it out.

man O man i should of did this a long time ago!!!

prably do mine tomorrow wish me luck..lol i got so much to do, pack the exhaust, shift star, put the plastics on project pink, and put a crank seal on pink also... then break'er in

One thing I noticed is you dont have to grind off the point after 6th gear, the one to the right of neutral. I left it long and thats how aftermarket ones are. Probably an extra precaution to keep the star from rolling backwards, not that it would anyway. I just used a dremel with the drum sanding bit.

^ he said man on man he wishes he did it earlier, so either he rode it and loves it or just asuming its good.

a little more detail about how it rides? im just worried about it slipping gears

It wont slip, the inside of the points on the star is what is holds it in gear. Mine has yet to pop into another gear. Most factory sport bikes have smoothed out points. It feels just like a r6 I rode the way it works. When you shift it doesnt snap into gear so much. You can just put less pressure to shift. Its not a huge mod, but it definately should came from the factory this way. Those times when you only click half way and its in the same gear, well thats no longer a problem. So yes I think its worth it less time concentrating on if its in the next gear and more focus on the throttle lol. I guess I could compare it to my magura clutch. Compared to the cable it just works in a smoother way.

ok looks good im doing this mod along with new cluches with stiff springs thursday, but does it still shift hard from 1st to 2nd because of the nutural notch?

If i could have gotten mine off when i was doing my rebuild i would have done mine but 2003-2006 models its welded and after i put my cases back together i realized it .Oh well
