scilencer packing

how long does steel wool last compared to the fmf stuff, cause the fmf stuff i'm usein is almost gone, and i need to know what i should repack it with

I tried the steel wool thing and it sucks. I also tried the home insulation thing and it sucks too.

The quietest and best stuff I have found is the yellow fmf 2 stroke packing. They have a white 2 stroke packing but to me the yellow is quieter. The texture is different as well. I use it in my cr125 and my trx250r. Its only 10 dollars a bag and you can re pack your silencer 3-4 times with a bag.

Just dont wrap it too tight like most people do and it will absorb sound really well. Oh and make sure to clean all the carbon off our baffle. If your holes are plugged up that will prevent sound absorption as well. I usually use a drill and a bit that is the same size as the holes. Or a file card.

i was told by someone that as the steel wool rusts, and starts to desinigrate, that particles of steel could be sucked back into the motor as it scavenges from the pipe,
and to never, never use steel wool

ive heard that the FMF 4 stroke packing works well and holds up better than the 2 stroke, i think its yellow like someone mentioned above.
