Just as an update, I swapped in a BR9 plug and it does run a little better. Pulled the plug and checked it and the timing/heat range marks are MUCH improved and look more ideal. The BR8s were running to close to the threads and running into them occasionally.
It pulls better but still has a bog. Pulled the choke out.....no help there. Leads me to believe it's rich....on the stock pilot and ~2 turns out. That is a bit perplexing to me considering it's a larger carb and ported engine. Quite bizarre(yes filter was just cleaned and oiled). Took a plug "chop"(didn't actually chop) at 1/4 throttle just to get a little idea what it's doing and it was pretty wet.
Next step...order smaller pilot and 300 and 310 main and give them a whirl....might try the 2nd clip from top on the needle. I'm going to start off with where I know I'm at.....which is backwards....but the mains are easy to get right.....everything else.....has been a bit difficult so far. We shall see. Plug chop session deux coming up soon.
