how do I remove the wrist pin in the piston...I removed one clip on the end of the wrist pin. Can I drive the pin out with a hammer and punch??? Before on other motorcycles the wrist pin slides in and out easily once the c clip is removed from the end of the wrist pin.....this wrist pin is in there tight...could it just be tight due to a melted piston??? the piston top is melted and on side of the skirt is gone....I hope I dont have to spit the engine case but I might have to in order to get all the pieces of the piston skirt.
any help will be appreciated.

thank you
Brett

if your piston skirt broke off inside you can either tip the bottom end upside down and flush it out with parts clean and alot of it.i used 3 or 4 cans when that happen to me awhile ago.or you can split the cases to make sure there are no left over pieces inside

ok that sounds good thank you for the very quick reply. the piston is in awful shape and now I am going to check for a service of reboring the jug any suggestions?

its really good to take the cases apart when that happens because there are lots of little pieces that will be in your bearings and eventually cause the death of your main crank bearings and con rod big end bearing. But, since most of the damage may already be done, depending on how long the engine ran after the skirt broke, you could just put a fresh piston in it and wait for the impending doom of bearing death..

Be warned, It will start to make subtle clicking and buzzing/whirring sounds soon before the bearing seize.. blow it out with air though.. blow down the oil passage above the crank bearings, this will blow the air through from the back and help blow any pieces into the crank case cavity. Make sure you dont pop out the crank seals with too much air pressure.
