I bought a 1999 blaster used. I replaced the top end and it never ran like it should've. it smokes more than a 2 stroke should, has oil dripping out of the muffler, and cuts out when the power band starts to come on. I took the cylinder to the Yamaha shop to ensure the correct size piston was ordered. Any ideas on what could be wrong? plz help.

what are you mixing your gas at? or do you still have the oil injection hooked up?. and is the smoke white or the normal blue?.

^^Start by answering these questions^^ It sounds to me like your engine has a bad RH side crankshaft seal. If and when this seal goes out, the engine will suck in and burn oil from the gearbox. This causes a huge cloud of very oily smoke and will make the engine run poorly at all speeds.

I'd remove the clutch cover, clutch basket assembly, and clutch drive gear from the right side of the engine. Have a look at the seal around the crankshaft. I bet it's damaged or out-of-place. Replace the seal, and try the starter again...

If this doesn't make the engine run any better, your carburetor is either running very rich, or there is too much oil pre-mixed in with the fuel. I recommend running a 32:1 mix ratio if possible. 28:1 won't hurt anything, either, especially if you like to stomp on the throttle. Any richer, tho, and there's going to be too much oil getting into the engine.

check your tranny oil, if its going down check them crank seals, a leakdown test will determine the condition of them also???, then check your float level too, mine was way off, letting too much fuel in, running way too rich and had the oil leaking out of the pipe

im mixing the gas 32:1 .going to look at crank seals as soon as i get a chance.whats the deal with this tors thing?
