So i started my quad yesterday and my whole was really hot it was spitin out trans fuild my question is my quad is runnin 140-145psi i have 89 octane in it know would that cause it run that hot cause i should be runnin 93 octane
is the tranny oil level correct ???
overfilling will cause it to spit
and does the brather have the vent hose connected that should run up under the hood, to allow it ti braethe yet keep water from entering, if the hose is not connected you could have "taken on" water causing an overfill condition
or you could have a bad crank seal on the clutch side, but that usually sucks the fluid in causing tons of stinky white smoke out the pipe as it burns it ???
i highly suggest a leakdown test
leaktesters can be had from this member.................. http://www.blasterforum.com/members/slickerthanyou-8165/
No i had a bad crank seal on the clutch side so i know wat that like and it has no sign of it bein bad and i didnt run it through any water i just ran through my yard and after bout 15 min of runnin the whole motor was crazy hot trans fuild was comin out of the breather vaule
I have ran without vent tube attached before with no problems. I would for sure check your tranny fluid level like awk08 says. Make sure it's correctly filled and nothing but tranny fluid about 22 oz.
and ditch that 89.
probably not the problem, but not a good idea none the less.
do as awk says or he'll repo your bike!!!!
we all take blasty abuse very seriously around here!!!!
seriously though, get a hose to vent at that opening, and then drain your trans and fill with NEW OIL to the correct level.
I put one quart of clutch saver in it a leak down test isnt goin to help me cause one of my tabs broke off so i had to jb weld a bolt there and then copper seal the intake but by puttin pressuger on it .It can break the seal i know i dont have an air leak it was runni fine the question i want answered is runnin a lower octane fuel when ur motor is setup to run a higher octane will that cause to run hot
well if it was that bad I would think you would get some knocking noise from detonation. but you should run 93 all the time anyway just on a stock motor. You could only be air leaking in the higher rpms with it. running leaner then be hotter.
Well you put a entire quart into the tranny and it's designed to hold 22 ounces ! The tranny is overfilled!!!!!! 89 octane won't cause this unless you are too lean !! Drain the tranny again and fill it with 22 ounces of quality trans fluid then report back . Do you premix the fuel or are you still running the stock oil injection? The stock system may be failing and causing the problem , but I think you have the tranny too full
