Got it runnin good with a new set of Vito's reeds. But still dies down when I try to take off in gear. It sat for a couple years so I'm thinking the tranny might have some bearings hanging up? All brakes are new and spin freely and clutch works great too. Has anyone came across this problem?

could be a couple things. first thing that comes to mind is the tors or the ebrake. check out the tors sticky thread in the diy section. you might need to close the loop to make it work, or you might have to leave it open depending on the year model. same w/ the e brake wires.
next thing that comes to mind is carb setting. clean the sh*t out of it, and check the jet sizes while you're in there. you might need a different main jet or needle position.
also, what's the plug look like?

Can you rev it up while your in netural? Will the front and back wheels spin freely? If you think the tranny is hanging up you might could try push starting it to see if the tranny spins?

I put it on blocks today started and everything moved freely through the gears but it dies when I take off the choke. I tried riding it in first gear with the choke on and it wouldn't barely rev which I'm guessing is normal with the choke on? Pulled the plug and here it is .... if you can't tell in the pic its black....any suggestions?

sounds like a similar problem i had once take off the exhaust pipe and run something through like a coat hanger to check for blockage.small field mice like to build nests in there, this came to mind since you said it sat for a while.if there is blockage just pour in a small amount of something flammable(gas),and light it up.hope this helps

Ok exhaust is clear I think I've found the problem. I put the air box lid on and ran it with the choke on and it sounds great reving I let it run like that for about 5 min. and pulled the plug and its bright and shiny like new(way to lean) it is a Keihin carb and I have a 150 in it I have a spare 152 but I want to run with out the box lid and I'm putting on a full exhaust this week any knowledge on what size I need to start at. I was going to get a couple around the size I need.
