Run a Vin?

I came across a awesome deal on a yamaha on Craigs List. Alright i got with the dude and its an awesome deal. Only problem is he dont have a title and its an 05. I want to buy it but im a little skeptical. I wrote the Vin down. Is there anyway to run it and make sure its clean? Can i do it on the net? Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you can call the DMV and see what its situation is. and if its clean and u buy it, make sure u right up a bill of sales so u can have new paperwork made for it.

you can also have your local police department check it for you. if its stolen they'll be sure to know

hey sorry if this is a thread jack but i have a question to- how do i right up a bill of sales because i am getting a ltr450 and he doesnt have a title for it i guess but we are getting the vin

Not real sure bro, you could probably find an example on the net. You definately want the vin and make, model, etc. included in the bill. You also want signatures and a witness signature.

Yeah I would just call the police and have them run the vin for you.

As far as a bill of sale I just googled bill of sale and found one and just changed some of the stuff around to suit my sale. I added a spot for the vin, both our sigs and a spot for the witness sig.
