how do i know if my reeds are bad???

When you take your reed cage out look at your reed pedals. You re going to want to make sure that there is no gaps when they are supposed to be closed and no chips on the ends. I would also recommend checking them over really closely to ensure there are no cracks in them. I had a reed cage that seemed fine when you just looked over it but one of my pedals broke off due to a crack where it mounted at the screws.
