probably a stupid question but is there a certain way the reeds go when i reinstall em? Is it possible they could be installed upside down?

nope, they can go on either way

well, unless you have dual stage reeds. If you have dual stage reeds, the smaller parts go on the outside..... But other than that, their orientation doesn't matter.

u can also flip the reeds over
u should not be able to see light through them
