I was at a buddy's house last night and we were doing a few things to get ready for a weekend ride. Clutch, reeds, handlebars, grips, clutch cable and jet kit. Everything went smoothly except it won't idle. He's got a stock pipe fmf silencer a 250 main jet k&n w/ lid on. The thing runs like a beast compared to what it was, but when he stops it just dies. Doesn't even sound like its trying to stay started. Starts right back up though. It acts like he's hitting the kill switch right as the motor should be hitting idle. He still has the TORS but it worked fine before and he's tried holding the throttle open a little to keep it going but it still dies, you have to constantly be on the gas to keep it running. where should we start cause i'm clueless...

Lol I just checked a voicemail he left me, but i am pretty sure he said he had smoke comin out of the bowl of the carb, i knew he should have waited for me

When I clean out a carb I take out the jets spray them out than spray through were they flow so anything that could have been stuck in them isn't sprayed into the carb , maybe double check that it's thoroughly cleaned and double check that the clamps are tight around the carb , romping on it there's tons of airflow anyways so it wouldnt make that much difference but at idle more or less relys on the vacuum , i'd also say check the intake boots for cracks dry rotting , start it up an keep it as steady as you can spray starting fluid right on the boots see if it revs up , just don't go "crazy" I'd recomend doing this cold
