reed spacer

most guys only use them for carb clearance when going to bigger carbs

really? you guys dont know why and why reeds spacers are used?

By placing the reed spacer between the reed cage and the engine you increase the crank case volume and by moving the reeds back further you move the power band lower. By placing the reed spacer between the reed cage and the carb manifold you move the carburetor back and this moves the power band higher up.

The overall HP stays the same. A spacer does nothing to add HP. It only takes the HP you have and moves it higher or lower depending on what you need or want it.

so if u put the reeds against the cylinder and then the spacer and the the manifold that will increase low end if so i will do that

most of us do know what they are used for (paperweights, cough cough)
but we already did what we wanted as for where the powerband is with our pipe selection and porting

How does it increase the crankcase volume? There is no compression in the intake area. The air/fuel flows in and is "charged"/compressed in the crankcase independently cut off from the intake and then moved up through the transfer ports to the cylinder. I'm just curious as I'm not following how that exactly works.
