I did a search and reeds and didn't come up with anything. My question is what do they control. What do they do? I know that they are a decent upgrade and whatnot but I honestly have no idea what they actually do.

Looking to get some new reeds as well. Thinking of the Vforce 3s, or maybe just some new reeds with the stock reed cage. So if anyone has some thoughts on that as well, that'd be nice.

Also with some new reeds, you need to rejet right?

I really just want some information on what reeds do. With the location of the reeds I would assume that they control the fuel and air that gets into the cylinder but I'd like to just learn more. Thanks guys.

Video is a good explanation but annoying to watch. Basically the reeds act kinda like the intake valve in a 4-stroke in such that it lets the air/fuel mixture into the motor, but keeps it front being forced back out into the carb.

Vf3 reeds seems to be used and enjoyed a lot, I'm running boyesen reeds and like them very much.

Thanks guys. I'll look into those boyseen reeds and see about those. The cheaper the better, I'm looking to make this a good bike for pretty cheap.

If you want a noticeable increase for cheap (~30 bucks from stealership) then go with the boyesen. I suggest the dual stage but there are other ones out there. Dual stage has worked well for me!! Boyesen website gets into nitty-gritty in terms of what the different materials do and why, but the dual stage you get the best of both worlds!!

VF3 are supposed to be even better, but they cost big money.

You do need to watch it but if you use the search function well then you can find some really good items for cheap. Just use buy it now and the cheapest price plus shipping.

yea i know it, was the only one i could think of off the top of my head

And if you wanna drop the coin VF3 reeds are defiantly worth it!

Haha, i hope nobody here knows that guy from the video, but maybe he should have rehearsed his lines before making a video! pretty good explanation

It was a good explanation, I watched it. But I have to agree. It probably would've been only a couple minutes if he had rehearsed his lines. But that's ok. If I did a video it would be terrible. I learned what I needed to know from it. Thanks for the post.
