New to the site.I purchased a 2006 Blaster the other day that has a full toomey exhaust
and a uni dual stage air filter. The airbox has been removed and the filter goes staight into the carb without
a outwear or anything.Should I look for a outerwear or invest in a airbox. The engine has been bored to a 207, what's a good oil/gas mix ratio?(injection system removed)The last guy said he was running about 45 to 1, just wanted to know if that sounded right...thanks

Welcome.

32:1 or more oil is the recommended mix for a 200cc two stroke, 45:1 is just not enough for a high revving engine.

I would be checking that the main jet is around a #330 with the mods stated.

It is always a good idea to leak test a newly obtained 2 stroke.

If you intend doing water or mud then an airbox is a good idea.

My filter is a double foam directly on the carb, no outerwears, I usually ride in a cleanish environment.

If you do dust, sand or gravel an outerwears could be a good idea.

Appreciate the info, yeah the man I got it from owned a small shop and did all the work himself, seemed pretty knowledgeable. He said all the rebuilding only had about 15 minutes of run time and needed to be broke in a little.Hadn't had hardly any time to ride since purchase but did notice that it was a little hard starting and cut off a time or 2 when i was idling. The idle seemed a little off, kinda going up and down. All this may be due to the quad sitting for a month or so and not being rode and fully broken in.May just try a outerwear, what precautions do you have about washing the quad with the exposed filter? Thanks

just for ha ha"s . the tenth digit on frame is the year by foot shifter, unless parts were swapped. The stock airbox is part of the rear fenders soo if you wanted it you would have to get a set of fenders and maybe the intake boot, theres also the cfm airboxes as well. Is it a stock carb? if so the idle is under the seat.I would maybe take carb apart and clean it.Unless the idle and air screw is out of whack:)

The very first thing you should do if the idle is erratic is a leak test.

Than clean the carby well, check the jetting and plug chop to confirm.
