Well I am taking my sons top end off, and checked out the cylinder (not scarred), but I did notice that the inside of the piston looks like something has been bouncing around in there, and the skirting on the piston has chunks taken out of it on the side the air/fuel comes in. It looks like something has been beating on it. I can't see anything down there, and the crank goes around quite smoothly. I am wondering if I need to tear down any further to check for something in there, shards of metal, or anything else that could have been sucked in there. When I took it apart before I did find a nut (from the air filter) in the Reed cage. It seems to me that I need to take this thing down to check for more damage, but not sure if anything would have gotten sucked down into the crankcase without being able to be seen or picked up with a magnet... Any thoughts? I figured with the head being out for work it would be a good time to make sure it goes back together properly as well.
Thanks,
Tim
