this is the actual first quad i owned myself....this been a project for me the last year...i'm new at working on them and tried researching exactly what the problem is but would like further explainations..well here it goes...its a 95 and the top end has been bored out once before i got it and i had it bored out with new piston and rings...i tore apart the bottom end put in a new clutch, kickstart assembly and gasket...has new clutch, throttle and brake cables....the gas and oil is mixed directly into the gas tank...new air filter and reeds...i can't figure out why my brakes still aren't working and when i finally got to take it out to ride today i rode maybe 5 minutes and it seemed to run super hot and making some goofy noises when running...i ordered a manual to better understand the bike...could anybody help me on why its still not running right...i got the bike in a few different boxes so as i put the bike together everything got painted...i appreciate any responses..thank you

super hot funny noises sounds like an air leak bet you didnt do a leak down test after you put it back together.
also did you do proper break in presuders and retorque the head after heat cycles

no def didn't do a leakdown test..how do i do that? and do u mean tightening the head back down? the bike has only been ridden 3 times since its been put back 2gether..i had a lot of trouble at first just gettin it to fire up at first but when the reeds were changed it fires on first or second kick..today is the longest i rode it and i could tell something still wasn't right.

you cant just go and ride, you gotta break it in properly. the rings are not seated yet. read up in the search bar for proper break-in procedures. i belive its stickied in this forum

you have to make a leakdown tester theres a diy on it in the diy section or i beleieve one of our members slickthanyou sells them i would sugest to not ride it again til you do a leak down test if you have an airleak it will mean fryed pistion in no time

also when you decided to start mixin the gas it is 32:1 right? and you did put a oil injection block off kit on right not just start mixin it?

i bought a lot of stuff for it brand new....pretty sure only aftermarket thing is the reeds i put in...carb was cleaned but not sure what jets are in it...i'm assuming they are stock..can't do any break in procedures due to it getting super hot very quick plus don't idle right...i'm researching now how to do the leakdown test and how to make one or buy one

Another pa Brutha! Welcome, When ya get done reading if ya have any questions, ask away. This is the Blaster Bible forum.

thank you much...i'm actually a PA sista LOL...i was reading up on a few DIY leakdown testers and printed it out to get the pieces for it...still a little confused but i hope i can do it..def new to all this so its a learn as ya go kinda thing...now since the head has been bored out twice now would i need after market jets/carb instead of stock?? would that make a difference in it functioning properly?
