Rear axle?

I have been taking apart my axle to replace the axle bearings. How important are the seals around the bearings? The carrier that goes on the axle is a little rough also, does it need to be replaced? Thanks.

the seals are very important they keep out water a dirt if you dont use then you will be rechanging them soon

thanks guys I:I and the carrier should be fine as long as the bearings still fit snugly
