Look at these plugs!! These were new plugs followed by running one gallon of 32 to 1 Yamalube R mix through a banshee (my nephew rode it without asking me). Today the banshee started and then died on two different tries and now will do nothing. Anyone have a guess on what would do this to these plugs. Just looking for gueses before I do a leak down and compression test.

Here is the story. The I have a blaster that I really enjoy, but I just came across a shee for $1,450. All stock except FMF pipes. The owner told me to bring gas mixed at 32 to 1 because he had drained the tank for storage. When I showed up he was installing two new plugs. I poured one gallon of pre mix gas into the tank. Test drove the banshee. It ran fine so I purchased. Brought the shee back to my nephews for a few days storage until I could do a leak down and compression test. Today I went to start the bike to ride it 100 yards to the shop were I would be working on it. The bike sarted and died twice and then would not start anymore after that. So I checked the gas. Almost the entire gallon of gas I had poured into the tank was gone. Obvioulsy my nephew had ridden the bike. So I pulled the plugs and that is what you see. I obviously need to do a leak down and compression test and I will soon. But, for now, do you have any idea what would make a plug look like that after one gallon of gas?

did you plug chop them or did your nephew?eather way i think you have to cut them down farther to see the smoke ring dont you? ummmmmmmmmmmmm did you put more gas into it he may have run the reserve out if he drained it riding it and you simply forgot to refill the the tank????? also what octane gas did or are you going to use?

"Plug chop them"... I'm confused. A plug chop is a new plug run WOT through 5th or 6th... motor shut off... and plugs removed. These plugs you see are new with a gallon of gas ran through the bike.

No offense, but I'm affraid you might not be familliar with a plug that has been cut. The white part you see.... is encased in the metal of the threads (i.e no combustion chamber exposure). They were cut deeper than the "plug chop" area. See where it transitions from white to black? The black is the original porcelain white that you can see looking down the inside of a plug. The current white is encased by the threads I cut off. A plug chop is determined by the area of the porcelain that is completely black in the plugs you see now.

The plugs in question were pulled from a motor which has been ridden for the length of time to consume a gallon of gas.

The reason you stop the motor and pull the plugs before you ride home on a plug chop run is to stop the plugs taking on a black colour.

A black looking insulator after a ride is quite normal.

Gotcha bud!! Thanks for the info! Realize now that I have never looked at a new 2 stroke plug with a gallon of gas burned.

So... that crazy black burns off after a few hours? I haven't ever pulled a plug that was that black!!
