random spuratic problem.. inconsistant

Friend don't let friend ride tors.lol I would remove the tors, and it does make a difference with rpms when you remove it.I would also clean the carb thoroughly and like stated above check all grounds, coil wire, stator etc.I would personally start with the tors and carb cleaning.IMO

im gonna go dicsonnect the tors.. its dark out so im not gonna bother removing everything right now.. just disconnect the brain, the switch on throttle and the wire to the carb... and check the coil wire... prob move the wifes car and hook the trailer up and go for aride quick.. sinc ei got the 14t front on today also

I think you all are thinking in the wrong direction. Ive had this problem many times on all kinds of vehicles. I would start by pulling the carb apart and cleaning it out THOROUGHLY! That means the jets, needles, everything. It only takes the smallest minute piece of anything floating around in the carb to block up that little tiny hole in the jet. If it still does it after that, purchase a shop manual. In there you will find the ohm specs for all the coils and other electrical components. Your stator coil could be weak or it could be your ignition coil. I have a manual. I can help with any technical questions you may have.

thanks.. i do have a clymers book also..

wel.. took it out with the 14 tooth on to see how i like it.. and did some carb adjusting... reset fuel/air screw.. turned all the way in than out 2 turns... no more bog.. and only made the random pink keek sound 3 times out of about 20 mide open passes..

cut the wires to the tors on carb.. thmb throttle switch was already un plugged.. found a strang elooking metal/ plastic box with a tap that sticks up with a hole threw it.. il get a pic of it tommrow unless i can find it online to figure outwhat its for.. its just hanging there

This is what I was thinking too... maybe a speck of dirt in your main? Other than that... I dunno

its confusing though... its only under wide open throttle and its not constant.. not even every other or ever 4 times i bang threw the gears... like i said it did it 3 times out of about 20 passes made down my testing road.. keep in mine my pulls are 1-2-3-4-5-6th gear pulls wide open just like you would ride drag racing or flying down a wide open smooth trail..

the bog is gone... just that random keek noise.. its wierd its not a like adetonation ping.. kinda but more of a keek sound and if i let of and jump right back on the gas it wont do it

it goas inside the throttle housing, its a button that senses when your not giving it gas/pushing on the throttle

mine does this once in a while, first time i caught it doing it we cleaned the air filter and im pretty sure the carb, did it a couple short rides on pavement later, so next up we put the air box lid back on and it happened less often but still happens every now and again, last time i rode it a couple of days ago it did it again but i realized the choke was half way out so i think that caused it last time, im thinking i need to go down in jet size maybe

it kinda sounds like you could have a bit of moisture in your carb bowl, mine had that prablem not to long ago just a thaught

also what could be happening i have seen before is your choke assembly being shot there is a little grommet i believe and it causes the choke to not shut off and act as if it is still engaged.

well.. i know my choke works.. in cold cold weather like 10 degrees or below i have to start it on full choke. and once it starts switch it to half for firstpart of warm up.. and when its over 40 degrees i dont need the choke at all.. my choke has leaked slightly since i got it.. if i dont shut the fuel off then its parked it wil leak slightyl.. nut that holds it in might be loose??

anyway.. like i said the bog is gone its just that random sound now.. best i can compair it to is.. if your chain is loose and your at a low speed in a gear enough to make it start to buck cuz it wasnt to die, the sound the chain makes from tighting and loosing from motor bucking.. thats about the sound

it frustrates me that i have not figured this out.... and there are some super smart guys/ gals on this site and seems i got them stumped to!! .. i was thinking about the air box thing.. BUT i dont have a lid never had one when i bought it..
anyone gotta pic of what the stock air box lid looks like?? for trial and error ill make one of out card board and duct tape just to see if it changes anything

and by the discription the sound your describing could be piston slap... do a compression check that lean of running could have fried the rings...
