well i have a raptor 80, and it needs head work done. the butterfly screw on the choke backed out and got sucked into it. screw+cylinder equals no compression. the cylinder got a nick in it, do you think reringing the piston would be enough to hopefully get some compression back, or is there anyway to hone, and get a bigger piston for such a small bike.

thanks,
austin.

well since your a sped.
when ever you do new rings or new piston and ring, you always have to rehone the wall.
as far as just new rings, no one can tell till you take off the top end and see the wall and see how bad they are.

hm, I'd check raptorforum.com it's a raptor 4 stroke forum, not a blaster 2 stroke forum. you'd probably get better answers pertaining to a chevy luv on a luv site rather than a silverado site... jmo...

only advice I can give is go look on ebay or other forums for oversized pistons to see what's available and bore it over a couple mm and it should be good I'd imagine.. small 4 strokes are hard to seize so going large shouldn't be too bad imo. so long the cyl walls are still pretty thick... I'd look on ebay, then exriders forum for parts as they have kids atv section on exriders

Raptor 90, 80 and 50 - Raptor Forums: Yamaha Raptor Forums

ATV Riders Forum - Yamaha Raptor 80 & 50 ATVs

ATV Riders Forum - Mini ATV Parts

those should get you started :) maybe search for an exclusive yamaha 80 forum?
