Question about TORS

I have an 05 blaster and it started reving up by itself. I disconnected the gay ass TORS (by the carb) and now it sounds pretty good and has good throttle response but it wont idle by itself. I think I heard somewhere on here that you have to do more than just unplug it by the carb, and if you dont it wont idle. So what else do you have to do to eliminate the tors and if the wiring is slightly different on the 03 and up blasters? The previous owner said it has been bored over(i dont know by how much) and it has a fatty pipe and powercore silencer. It might need larger jets. For now I want to know how to totally eliminate the TORS.

Get a TORS removal kit.

As to the revving, you may have an air leak somewhere, do a leakdown test. If you have been fiddling with the carb, you could have a boot which is sucking air.

Before you start it again, check your main jet, it should be around #270, #280, and then do a plug chop.

Could save you many $$$$$$ in the future.

Well it doesnt rev after i disconnected the tors it just doesnt idle. Doesnt the main jet control throttle from like half to full throttle. I just heard somewhere that you dont need to get a removal kit you just need to remove it correctly.

follow the removal procedures in the link i provided above, report the results and we'll take it from there

If you are not sure check your jets!

ok just to clarify, the jetting story and the tors story are different subjects. you are correct in saying the main jet works from 3/4 to full throttle and has nothing to do with idle. Now for your motors safety, you need about a 270 or 280 as Blaaster mentioned. check what you have--if it says 230... change it.

as for the tors, you do not need to buy the new cap for the carb. you can run the carb as is but with the electronic system disabled. the link Awk posted will show you how.

Thanks I got rid of the tors the proper way and now it idles a little better but it took a a lot of kicks to get it started. So Awk, what should I do with the jets the main is stock 230and im assuming the pilot is stock too. It runs awesome when your going fast but it bogs badly when taking off and still has trouble idleing but manages to stay running at least.

you need at least a 270 main for that fmf fatty pipe, do not ride it again till you get that correct with plug chops, it must be done.........

i'd also look for an airleak, another must.............

/\ slickerthanyou builds and sales a nice unit

a good complete teardown and carb cleaning should be in order,
wheres the airscrew set at ???, try 1.5 turns out to start
air filter clean ???

Thanks awk08, yeah the air cleaner im sure needs cleaned and the air box lid was off, and im sure ill need to get a 270 main. Yeah thats about where i had the air screw. Stupid question..how do you check for an air leak? Should i get a pilot jet?
