so my mom wanted me to come up to her house and stay the night last night. my drz had a full tank of gas, and my mom lives about 50 miles away. pretty much all the roads to her house are 55mph roads. well i have never ridden the drz that long before, but i figured what the hell. i took several twisty back roads instead of the main roads there, so the trip ended up being about 75 miles one way. i wont lie, i was riding the p*ss out of the bike, running it hard into the curves and full throttle out, and most of the way i was running about 65. for a bike that's geared to do like 106mph or something like that, 65 is turning some considerable rpm's. for 75 miles on a dirt bike, it was surprisingly comfortable. i must have a big a$$ or something lol. and then when i got there, i filled it back up. it only took 1.3 gallons! thats almost 58mpg and it was alot of hard riding! i was very happy the bike. on the way back, i rode 60mph and didnt ride it hard, so i'm gonna fill it up to see what kind of mpg it got

i love mine. i always wanted a ktm duke or a husqvarna 510 sm but i did some research and they need more maintenance than i feel is necissary for a road bike. my drz sm doesnt require much maintenance, i think suzuki recommends valve checks every 15,000 miles and oil changes every 3,000 miles. for a high revving 4 stroke, thats like never. i change the oil every 1,000 and plan on checking valves every spring. but i guess thats probably why the drz lacks so much power compared to the ktm and husky

right now it is a street queen. i saved up the money to buy it, but since i'm 18 and trying to build credit, i pulled out a loan, and it wont show up on my credit like it should unless i pay payments for at least a year. so i plan on paying it off a little after a year, and then i will probably buy a set of dirt tires and rims for it to take it on the trails. i just want to keep it clean until it gets payed off in case something happens. it has the power to run 65-70, hell it will run about 80 on a regular basis without any issues, but i dont know how long i would want to hold it there since at that point it would be turning some high rpm's. i wont lie, i've had it to about 95 when some punk in a civic thought he could beat me. ha. it took a little while to get there, but it was still pulling. but going that fast on a bike like this feels like your going like 200 or something
