Ive owned more then a few of them.... from small 50" screens... to my college house basement lounge.. with full bar..and 109" projection.... I personally wouldnt bother with them anymore... They really need to be in a darker room.. even the ones that say they dont....really do to get that good picture... The bulbs like everyone else says are expensive... but forget expensive... how about hard to find if they discontinue the model.... there is a place in the usa..which actually rebuilds the bulbs for this reason.... If i were to buy one now.. id make sure i bought a replacement bulb right outta the gate... The white wall will give hotspots.. inless to get the special paint... you can buy material on ebay that will give a decent picture... and using black material.. you can frame it in nicely but it still doesnt throw the same kinda picture the new Plasma/LCD/LED tvs throw... and at the end of the day.. the price point on those projectors makes them less desirable for me... considering projectors have sh*t for speakers, so youll need a stereo amp, the wiring costs(more then youd think), ceiling mounts.. cost for the screen setup... and like i say.. even the HDTV projectors dont have the same picture to me....
Now there is one reason Id buy a projector...... MOVIE THEATRE.
If your looking for something to watch daily... forget it..
If your looking to build a really nice theatre room... dont mine spending some good money on it.. then projectors are very nice.... Just do it right...
Seperate room..theatre sitting... dont cheap out on your audio either... great picture is awesome.. but room shaking clean audio is the key...
I personally have my theatre all planned out..and ive been putting together some of the harder to find items over the last couple years....... Have a full sized restaurant soda fountain complete for my snack bar.... still looking for the old school full sized popcorn maker... LOL
Prolly a long rant... if you have any other questions lemme know.
