OK fellas, just trying to finishup with a rebuild of my 2002 Blaster motor. Heres the problem. New wristpin inserts through needle bearings on new rod. Problem is i cannot get the wristpin to even start into the piston. I,ve double checked piston number and it is what its supposed to be. I,ve tried everything except a sledge hammer. Rebuild parts are Wiesco. New crank with rod, new piston. Help.................................................:o

I've had some that were tight going in. I coated them with 2 stroke oil and pushed and then they slid in.

Like most things... a little lube goes a LONG way.

Look at the wrist pin and make sure it has no burrs and then look down into the wrist pin hole and make sure there aren't any burrs or gouges that will stop it from going in.

if the wrist pin will not slide in easily dont force it in there,if the pin is to tight once you get heat in the engine the pin will expand putting pressure on the piston and cylinder walls therefore wearing your stuff out very quickly

Good point, I probably should have added something about that.... the problem I was having was the wrist pin hole was dry and the pin wouldn't slide in. I didn't force it in, I put some 2 stroke oil on the pin and down inside the hole and the pin slid in fairly easily.

If it really won't go in and there's no obvious reason why (burrs or gouges on the wrist pin or inside the hole) then you should carefully measure the hole and pin to figure out what the problem is and call wiseco's tech line for customer support.

If you don't get anything out of Wiesco here's what you do. Using a piece of wooden dowel and red crocus polishing cloth you make a hone to open up the piston. I'm talking if say the piston and pin are same size you hone it say .001, not if the piston is .100 small.

Talked with wiesco tech sup this morning, went over everything in detail. He inturn sent me to cust. sup. Talked at lenght with them and they gave me a referance # to send the piston to them. Reboxed and mailed it today. Thanks to all who replyed with the info. hopefully will get the situation resolved promply.

YEP - the metal may be a tad raised (burred) around the CLIP recess area from machining - very common with all new pistons.
