Are you taking about a straight pipe no chamber or silencer?

I will say this back in my early days of R/C guys racing the planes for just the top speed record used to run straight pipes with no chamber or silencer.
They would take a section of pipe and keep cutting it shorter and shorter 1/4 inch at a time untill the peak RPMs went back down, then they would make another one 1/4 inch longer then the last pipe.
