it depends. it also depends where you are plugging the tire. if it is on the sidewall, you should have a tire specialist put an inside sidewall patch on it.

its kind of on the main part of the tire ,but off to the left maybe an inch. its a pretty big hole!!

you should be able to plug a hole smaller than you thum and you could use 2 plugs if needed other wise you would have to take it in or get a new one (or 2)
