i just picked up 2 2001 yamaha blasters 1 is completely stock with a 230 jet

and the other has v force 3 reeds and cage, no air box lid ,fmf gold series

fatty pipes w/silencer ,14 tooth front sprocket, twin air filter and dyno jet kit

installed is a 360 jet with 1.5 turns out and needle is on the 3rd line

now my question is why isnt the blaster with the mods that much faster than

the stock one is it jetted correctly i was given a couple other jetts in the

package (i got 200-210-220-340-350 plus the 360 already installed) any one

know what i should do as far as tunning it i am located in connecticut and i

am new to blasters

any help would be great

well the modded one might have been ridden longer and harder. do a compression check it may need a rebuild. also do normal maintenance and clean air filter/carb. see what happens

What's the tooth count on your rear sprocket?, if it's the stock 40 tooth your problem is in the gearing, my Blaster was a dog with the stock 13/40 gearing, it would go faster in 5th gear than it was in 6th!, I changed it to 13/41 and it made a TON of difference, my brother changed his to 13/42 and it was a major improvement!

yeah it sounds like a gearing issue to me but as hickskateboarder said check the compression and def. do full maintenance, probably one of the most important things to do

360 main jet?? Is it jetted right? I've owned a few blasters in my day and 360 is huge! Hell I've had a 250R that was ported, polished, carb work, custom tuned pipe and I still only ran a 310. My point is Yes gearing is an issue and 14 is just too damn big. switch to a 13 and then check your jetting. What is your altitude?
