please help with 03 blaster!

there should be some wires going to one of the levers on the handlebars. unplug that and see if it'll start.

I would also make sure that the flywheel key hasn't sheared. reeds would be another possibility.

where would I find the flywheel key

also i just tried starting it without the airbox hooked up just straight carb and it was actin really funny like it was trying to start every kick but it wouldnt fire and it looks like gas in the airbox so i think its floodin out or somthing

just asked my dad what he thought about it and we were checkin the spark again we put the plug with the boot on it to the side of the motor(grounded out) and noticed that the spark didnt stay going the whole time. it would spark but only on the begining of the kick the spark didnt stay lit throughout the whole kick

ya but when the spark plug is out the piston probably goes to the top of its stroke 3 or 4 times dont you think with a good kick

just found out that it gets spark when i kick start it but when i push it in gear it does get spark at all..... is it the coil??

it sounds exactly the same as the problem i had when i removed my tors.
try this....
remove your hood
there is a black box thats right out in the open, you cant miss it (cdi ignition controler)
yellow wire with a black stripe coming out of the plug on the bottom of the black box (thats the wire for the throttle override system)
cut the wire as long as you can and tie it to ground. i tied mine one of the screws that holds down the voltage regulator (the small metal box on the left side of the big black box)
then give it a kick and see if it starts. i hope this will work for you. its sounds exactly the same as my problem.

thanks man i just tryed exactly what you said but it didnt change anything. i cut only the yellow wire w/black stripe (there where about 10 other wires in the same plug) and skinnyd the wire and screwed it to the metal box mount on the left side(front view). gonna try the coil from a polaris i have sittin in the yard and see what happens.

well crap! i thought for sure i had the answer. oh well. leave the wire grounded. it will rule out the tors as any future problem.
just to be sure......you grounded the wire thats coming from the plug on the cdi right? not the end coming from the harness

ya its the biggest black box it has a rubber sleeve around it the other two smaller boxes are mounted to the frame. the smaller box had a yellow w/black stripe but it was unpluged so i guess its not doing anything.

Try the two wires that go to the key switch. One should go to ground and the other should not. If both of those wires are to ground then you have a short

to check the reeds, take the carb off, and where the carb connects on the engine. take out those 4 bolts, and the reeds should be there. take them out, and check that there not broked or bent. if they are, then theres ur problem and replace them. also sounds like something wrong with the spark plug its self. check that the gap is good, and that its not too far from the electrode, or that its not touching the electrode. u shoud be able to stick just the very tip of a flat head screw driver between the electrode and little metal peice.

thanks for all your input everyone i checked the reeds they are fine i will go check on the key switch also i tryed another coil and the bike did same exact thing so its not the coil but i am convinced that it has to do with spark... does anybody know anything about stators???

yes i checked the gap and changed the plug. when i kick start the bike it gets a quick spark like with the first revolution of the motor and then stops(maybe 3-4 revolutions when plug is out) it doesnt keep sparking through the whole kick and also i tryed to check spark by grounding the plug and trying to push start it and i got no spark at all so im not sure where to look only other thing i can think of is stator maybe but i have never dealt with one
