i bought a used '00 blaster not running. i brough it to a quad motor shop and spent a small fortune, they put new piston, rings, reeds and adjusted the trans. i got it home, hooked it up and it fired. it idles great, but the minute i put it in first gear and try to go it boggs bigtime and dies. it'll fire right back up and idle great, just wont go without bogging and dying.

i pulled the carb apart 4 times now, cleaned ever jet (soaked and air blasted), checked the float (no holes, it floats). it has a stock #230 main jet. i have already tried diff adjustments with the mixture screw/adjuster, nothing helped. i just put a brand new filter on it because it didnt come with one, so i thought it was sucking too much air making it lean, that made no differance.

does it sound like it's lacking full when i try to take off in gear? would that mean i should try a #240 or #250 jet? im so flustrated,i just want to try to ride it for the first time, im losing hope. thanx in advance.

Is this problem happening when you are holding the clutch in first gear??? So, the bike will idle fine in nuteral but as soon as you pull the clutch down and dump it into first it dies?

I bet that your clutch cable is out of adjustment. So when you go and dump it into 1st gear its actually creating pressure and making the quad die. 2 strokes are usually all or nothing, like you cant get going slowly (unless you hav mastered how your clutch works)

I would say adjust your clutch cable so then the quad is truly in nurtral when you pull the clutch in.

thank you for the replies guys. first off, yes i removed the TORS unit using the DIY tutorial on this forum. (very well done btw). no i guess i didnt break it in properly, but i really cant because i cant get it to move lol.

i wasnt thinking it was in the clutch but maybe your right. the best way i can describe it is, it idles fantastic, i race go karts so i used my racing tach to check the rpm's during idle and i've ot it tuned to the factory spec rpm's in the manual. i squeeze the clutch and put it in first, and as soon as i start to release theclutch it dies immediately. if i let the clutch out very gingerly on a flat surface i can get it to roll very slowly without dying, but i can then give it full throttle and it doesnt pick up speed, the more gas i give it the more it wants to die. if i squeeze the clutch again the idle picks rightback up and idles smooth, it just wont go.

p.s. is there a thread on adjusting the clutch since i have no idea how to lol? thanks a bunch guys

um I have never seen a DIY but I can tell you how really quickly. This is just how to adjust the cable. Just adjust the adjuster on he pearch untill its loose. Then tighten it till it has about 1/4-1/2 inch of play. The lever should not be tight when the it is not being pulled in.

For the actual clutch when you take off the clutch cover and adjust the philips head in the center of the clutch basket. When I had to do mine i just put it back exactly how it had it when i took it apart so I am not sure exactly how its supposed to be.

hope this helps
