It depends on what the current bore is and what it will take to fix it. Never bore more than is needed, the extra is not of that much benefit
skirt and yes im sending it to a shop to have it bored and will i need a new cyl if i go that bigYou will not even notice the difference in power from a 66 to 68 imo. I wouldn't bore the .25 over to a 68 that would be a waste of a good cyl. If you got a cyl close to the 68mm than do that one if you really want 68mm. Whoever you have do the boring/honing send the piston with the cyl so they can bore to the piston size. Also what do you mean by blowing up top end? Did skirt break or seizure?
ok im not jetted for the fmf i just got the pip and it blow
ya i am my cace is split and i am getting crank bearings and i had a new crank i just need to know if its really bad to go 2.00 mm overIf you dropped a skirt you will need to inspect bottom end and clean it out.Chances are there are fragments of aluminum in there.
no its not bad i just found a new one for a good price look up pk1097 that is what im getting on amazon and i just looked up pk 1091 that is only .50 over .25 more thin i have it now72mm is a big bore piston. you need a new sleeve to run that.
68mm is useless unless the current bore is so cut up that its needed
I don't understand how it's a waste of money like I said I have 3 jugs and I can get a full top end ket for 117$ and it bored for 30$ and crank bearings for 50$ and it's all name brand so it's good stuff so that's were I'm lost lolNot bad , just a waste of some good over bores imo.. Best way to go about this is to send the cylinder to your machinist and see what they say about how large it needs to be bored to. then either buy a piston from them or send the size piston they say it needs and they can bore it to the piston. To just jump up to a 68mm from a 66.25 is just a waste of $$..

Ok I'll just go .25 over cuz it needs it so it will be at 66.50mmThis is my opinion but taking a 66mm piston and going to a 68 mm piston is wasting a good cylinder. After the 68mm you will have to get it sleeved . You might as well just bore it completely out and put a 72mm sleeve in it. Like I said man you are free to do as you please but I myself and I am sure quite a few others would be willing to trade you a 68mm cyl for your 66.25 cyl. That is unless it is gouged so bad it needs to be a 68mm. Also there are practically no gains of just boring to a 68mm "just because"..
