I am in the the process of starting to reassemble this blaster motor...When I tore it down, some of the piston skirt was broken off. I got some pieces but it is impossible to determine if all pieces are accounted for. Is it possible to take the engine/transmission out of the frame and rinse/flush with a solvent and dump out by turning it upside down in order to prevent splitting the case? Has anyone done this and did it turn out ok???

thanks for your help in advance

I know what a lot of people are gonna say & thats to split the cases just to be sure you get all the little pieces out or its gonna cause major issues down the road but I just recently did what you are talking about to mine since I bought it locked up & didnt want to split the cases. I contacted my neighbor back in Illinois that has been a motorcycle mechanic over 30 years & he told me to blow the crankcase out with compressed air real good then use mineral spirits about 3 times to flush any thing left behind using the compressed air in between so thats what i did & so far so good! Dont use kerosene either, he told me it will ruin the carnk seals! He also told me that most the time the real small pieces get shot out the exhaust so its the big pieces left behind to worry about or vice versa, cant remember...sorry! Anyways just my 2 cents... good luck!

This is what I would do. I like the mineral spirits idea too, cuz things stick to oil, but make sure you pour some 2-cycle oil into those crank bearings before reaasembly.
