piston ring direction "this side up"

when putting rungs on a piston your soposed to put the side with writing facing up, but why is this? are the rings beveled? what could go wrong if you put them on wrong?

lol they all have numbers on them the numbers face upward

Wiseco rings can go any way you want. Wiseco pins their piston in the middle.
Some rings are 'faced up' because the piston pin is not in the middle and they are made to match the pin.
