painting the springs

how/would/should i paint the springs a different color? i have the old stock springs still, and there peeling and rusting. how would i go about stripping the old paint off them, and painting them red? and what paint should i use? spray? or what color even?

i painted mine with rustoleum and it turned out pretty nice. i used a rusty metal primer and just sanded the old paint to remove any dirt and surface rust. they held up pretty nice and didnt chip much. just be careful when putting the springs back on the dAMPENERS because if you do it wrong you will chip the paint. i have a thread with a pic of thwem ill tryto find it for ya
