i got an older motor and the paint was messed up on the head and cylinder and im wanting to paint them. but how would you sand and prep everything to paint them with the fins? sand blasting is out of the question. and how would you keep the paint from running with those fins? seems like a PITA! and i cant afford to have it powdercoated nor do i know of any place to have it done. i live in a small town about an hour away from anything. :(

im also trying to figure out a paint scheme to redo my blaster with. so far its either white/blue orange/black or yellow/black any ideas will be considered. thanks in advance.I:I

Use zip strip to remove the paint then hose off. see my thread on using this stuff.

ive been using zipstrip and airplane stripper but i cant down in between the fins and it doesnt just bubble up you got to scrub the hell out of it with a wire brush. as for color im going back with a flat black with polished fin tips.

update... the cylinder head is painted flat black. and looks great. now i'm going to sand the fin tips down to bare aluminum and either leave them like that or polish them.

high temp flat black right? because if it's cheap spray can flat black it will burn off the first day.

the fins will rust if you leave them just aluminum, very easily too.

1200* flat black rustoleum im going to bake it and then paint it again. in a few spots the paint is thin

i have a 1997 blaster i just re did. i painted the frame AC orange. i had the swing arm,and a arms painted chrome. and i bought black shocks for the front and back. it looks pretty good. but with this paint scheme you have to buy white plastics or it just wont look right. i recommend rockymountainatv.com to purchase the plastics. i have had many compliments on my blaster. and good luck becuz it is very time consuming if you plan on doing it your self.
