ok as some of you have seen i just bought my first atv its a mint green 95 thata been used and abused and really needs some work put into it before it gets any worse. motor seems to work like a dream but the plastics, frame, exaust, and most of the suspension is defintaly showing it was enoyed and abused then rigged back togather again past.

im hoping to use this thread to document the progress as well as keep track of the last time everything was replaced, and mostly to ask questions along the way.

HERE is a link to my flickr galery where ill be updating with pics as it progresses but atm it just has more shots of the blaster with some close up shots of various parts

here she is

had a buddy over today and had him take a look at it, seems its in better shape than i thought. he says the only things that need replaced right now is
wheel bearings
back brakes
front brake lower cables
pipe to cylinder gasket
pipe to cylinder springs
pipe to silencer clamp

so to get the ball rolling i ordered
rear brake pads $12
wheel bearings $35
vito's high flowair filter $27
exaust clamp $25
14tooth sprocket $14
104pc atvbolt kit $26
vito's boost bottle $32
chain $20
front brake cables $20
red nose peice $20
red tank cover $20

i also remembered that when i got the blaster dude dropped off a pile of stuff with it. went to check it out and low and behold there was a set of black plastics in good condition along with a whole nother rear break assembly for parts.

im going to start fixing breaks within the next couple days and switch to the black plastics but its going to have red nose and gas tank.

sounds like youre off to a good start. i do recommend reserching parts on here before you order them. it can save you $$$ on things like boost bottles that dont help you at all in any way.

good luck with your project and feel free to ask all the questions you want.

i've been reading for a couple weeks before i got the blaster, everything i read said vito's performance parts were good as long as you stay away from his internal engine parts. so your saying the boost bottle definatly isnt going to help?

not one bit. its a marketing gimmick. it woeks on banshees, but because of blasters having a single carb and more restrictive intake sizes the boost bottle is for decorations only. theres another thread on here somewhere asking about boost bottles and i wrote in there about the "how to's" and "why not's" of the boost bottle on a blaster.

you would be much better off spending that same amount of $$$ on a vito's timing advance woodruff key instead. or maybe put that toward a new set of Vforce3 reeds for a noticable performance gain.

damn ordered the boost bottle off ebay maybe i can get him to send me a set of vito's carbon reeds instead. or are those no good either? maybe ill order that timing key too since its cheap and i've seen it mentioned as working before.

i haven't ever used vito's reeds. once i bought my first set of vforce reeds, i never went back to anything else. i cant see how they wouldnt help with throttle response though. anything is better than the crappy stock reeds.

yea ill have to wait a bit for vforce, right now my goal is to replace all worn parts that need replaced with parts that are a step better than stock to get it running good so i can work on getting it widened and get the swing arm extended to make it a little more comfortable for me. being 6' 250lb it feels a little cramped and top heavy lol, i got to ride it for a couple weeks before buying it and every time i thought to myself "damn this would be sweet if it was only wider and longer" lol that was before i knew it was actually possible lol i used to think that if you wanted a wider quad you had to buy a wider model lol

yea man there are plenty of things u can do to make it wider and longer, but like u said, start off with the nessesities first, wheel bearings, cables, clamps, ect, ect!

damn ebay all to hell and back. lol just ordered a gasket kit to get the exhaust gasket i needed plus some black "fly" handlebars, some red n black flame grips.

almost ordered the vito's timing advance key, and reed spacer but i was afraid if i did that with the new air filter and other stuff i may need to rejet and i havent had a chance to research that at all.

i see a very nice picture in my mind of what this things is gonna look like in a week or 2 and its looking niiiiiice lol hell of alot better than the mint green eye sore it was/is now

speaking of rejeting is there a rule of thumb as to when you should rejet after addding certain parts? when the parts come in it will have

vito's carbon flex reeds
new exaust gasket
vito's high flow air filter (k&n style)
14t front sprocket

already bored 0.050 over
fmf gold series fatty
fmf silencer not sure which

was running good but the exaust needs tightened to engine wth gasket replaced and clamp put on pipe to silencer so that should also make it run different plus the new stuff

you will need to rejet anytime you do anything that will effect airflow. air filter, exhaust, yada yada.

Different temperature and altitudes also require jetting alot of people dont take this into account when they start asking what jetting is best for their bike just because it runs perfect in the rocky mountains dont mean it will in death valley

how would i go about figureing out what size jets i would need? is there some mathmatical equasion or is it just one of those things where you need to buy all the sizes and try em all to figure out what you need?

bump it up about 20 from where it is currently after the new air filter is on. if that doesnt work, go 20 more. if that makes it worse go back 10 at a time until you get where you want it.
