So I just picked up a vito's degree key 4 5 $$ new at a clearance sale!!!

What do you guys think as compared to stator ignition timing mod???

Thanks, dg

Works in exactly the same method. The only drawback to the degree key is it's all or nothing. You either run the key (and it advances your timing 4 degrees) or you run a stock key and it doesn't advance your timing at all. The plate can be "grooved" to allow infinite adjustment.

Otherwise, the degree key works well. The flywheel key is only there for alignment purposes anyway. The interference fit between the flywheel and crankshaft tapers is what holds the flywheel in time with the crankshaft anyway...

how do i install the degree key
before i answer this, be beware of timing keys and their fitment to wisco cranks or vito's key to any stock blaster crank.

Installing a degree key:
1. remove the stator cover
2. use flywheel puller (most good bike shops sell em')
3. save old key install new key
4. reverse disassembly

Now to my experience, I had to slightly shave the key, on one side to make it fit in a stock wisco crank. All in all the effect should be slightly less advance of the timing. So instead of 4 degrees... i may be 3 degree's advanced

I think i am going to do the mod instead....
