hey awk im in like lehigh vally area, not really in the moutians, but yea, ill do compression today, and yes im talking about a blaster, its smelled like burnt antifreeze when the smoke came out.

alright, so i did a dry compression test and i got 55 lbs could this be telling us somthing or what? idk first time i ever did this

how did you do your compression test?
did you make sure the tip was all the way in?
did you hold the throttle open?
did you kick till the needle stopped moving?

if yes to all of these, you need a top end rebuild.

dry compressiong is not putting oil in the head? yes i held it wide open, it was all the way in wouldnt move any further, and i kicked it till it stoped. got an idea of how much the rebuild will be.

55psi means bad news bud, should be at least 100psi

if it is just hone and rings, it will be cheap. but if is needs a pistons and bore, that wil be around 150ish.

take the head off and check it out.

When you kick it the piston spins with no resistance i'd say a compression test is going to read low if at all.

anyway did you check the studs in that hold your head to the cylinder, I had 5 of the six that let loose at once and lost compression. Heli coil saved me a lot of money.
