I got the Tusk engine oil seal kit, and all the tools i need.

But im not sure which seal goes where:-/:-/:-/

I know the middle left one goes around the kick shaft.
Im guessing the bottom two go on the flywheel and clutch sides.

I havent completely taken it apart, kind of want to know this before i finish I:I

2 mains, one output shaft seal, one kickstart seal, one clutch arm seal and probably one oil pump case seal.

I just went over the motor break down and located 6 of the seals. Not sure where the last one goes. But once you start pulling them out, just match them up to the new ones. They all are different sizes so it will be easy. Just do one at a time.

Oh, and if you removed your oil pump, one of those seals won't be used for sure. As for the mystery one remaining, that probably won't be used either. You will be using 5 out of the seven seals. Of all the motors I've rebuilt, for some reason there is always at least one seal in the kits that don't seem to go anywhere except in a drawer. And I use either winderosa or cometic gaskets and seals. Never tried tusk kits.

Yeh i was iffy on getting the tusk kit, but how much different can they be?

Doesnt the oil pump use a gasket? I have the pump, but its blocked off... So either way it doesnt matter

I'm sure most of the kits are made from the same factory, just package per company's required specs. As for the oil pump, there is a seal inside the case and a gasket on the outside. But if its not being used, I wouldn't worry about it. But later, if you pull the clutch cover, I would remove the pump all together. A little less weight and drag on the motor. Just my opinion.:)

If you take out the gear, all the pump is doing is sealing the hole...

For the seals with the springs, do the springs go inwards toward the crankcase, or point away?

Also, make sure you cover any splined shaft before attempting to install a new seal. You don't want to tear your new seals.

Re: Oil seal kitthe

I dont know much about this... What's a splined shaft?

And do i want to grease the seals like i saw in a thread a while back?

The output shaft that the countershaft sprocket mounts to is splined(grooves machined into it) as well as the kick start shaft. The trans side of the crank is splined as well. I use white lithium grease in the seals to lube them for install. I haven't had any issue with it and it won't dry out the seal like some other grease can do.

So im running into a problem, the seal on the flywheel side will NOT come out...

And how can i hold them from turning when i try to get the nut off?

I have 2 drywall screws in the left seal, and i jerk it hard enough to pull the whole bike towards me...

Still doesnt come out.

Any ideas?
