So I'm changing the engine oil for the 1st time on a recently bought 2004 blaster.
First of all, the drain plug/bolt is completely stripped so I need to buy a kit for damaged bolt removal.
2nd - The oil that I see in the window is red....what type of engine oil could they have used that would be red. Would they use ATF? I know that can be red... Any ideas? Also, when i took the cap off to fill it a little and to look inside, the visible gear had 0(zero) oil on it. The window showed it right in between where it should be...???

Thanks in advance!

its prolly atf or honda tranny oil

try to get the botl off with a visegrip thats what i just had to do...thats reminds me off to ebay i go to buy a new plug

lol vice grips are the best...just gota put some ass in it. the belray tranny oil i use is red..so maybe thats whats in it?

It's not engine oil, it's the tranny and clutch oil. The crankcase is seperated from this oil and is lubed from the oil in the gas (or the injector system, which mixes it for you).

You can't see the oil from the fill hole. there is only supposed to be about 650mL IIRC or so in there, less than a full quart.

If the oil looks clean in the window and the shifting is fine, why do you need to change it?

Also, always use a socket on the drain plug!!

an easy out might do it, i don't get why people crank on drain plugs so hard, might have to drill it out and retap, let this be a lesson that it's easier to check your plug now and then, than to over tighten it and think you don't have to worry until you have to get it off, alot of times drain plugs get siezed from temp changes, put a little anti sieze on there when you put your new one in
