Quad: 1996 Yamaha Blaster

I have no spark.. I bought a new coil in hopes it would fix it... but it didnt. I have all the correct ohm readings across the board.. but still I have no spark. TORS was removed, quad was running after it was removed. was riding the quad and it stalled and wouldnt fire up. any idea what else i can test or what the issue is?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
IlDuce

have you seen if you are getting power up to the coil?

take your test light and put the lead in the wire that plugs in to the coil and kick it over

I was lookin around for wires that i didnt need on the blaster and i came across a wire that i can disconnect. I disconnected the black/white wire coming out of the CDI box... Got spark... then it started.... now it wont start but i still have spark...

@Hudack: i was getting all correct readings and no spark before i disconnected blackwhite wire.

colors might be off, dont remember but i can go check if needed.

yeehaw, shes running now... is there a way to set my idle to get her to stay running without the throttle?

edit: i think im gettin too much fuel to the plug, she runs for a little while and then when she shuts off she dont turn back on... hmmm

the idle is under the seat, in front of the shock mount, big slotted screw
also check all connections, take them apart and clean them, the grounds too, under the hood at the regulator, and especially the one at the coil < no paint under it, bare metal
make sure none of the tors wires are grounding out

Looks like the idle screw is missing... i have a hole with nothing in it where you are describing... sanded the grounds down for the coil so it is at bare metal, do you know where the rest of the grounds are located? after i had it running last night my brother rode it around for about 2 hours then turned it off and now it doesnt start... has fresh mix in it. Have spark, have fuel... no boom.

grounds, one at the coil, and i believe it's the lighting ground at the voltage regulator under the hood

will it fire after it cools down ????
your gonna have to start checking other things, airleak, compression,
what mods on it ???? pipe, filter ect.

if you have good ohm readings and still no spark you have this problem
1) pick up gap is wrong
2) loose wiring
3) bad ground
4) broken wiring

Nope, wont fire after it cools down... its been about 8 hours since its been ran and nothing... Have spark and fuel though, just no boom. Vforce reeds and that is all. Stock everything. Tors was removed/disconnected, no main switch just a engine run/off switch with the headlights... this thing is a bomb my brother picked it up for 700 bucks, ran while he was there but when he got it home it turned to sh*t.

check the v-forces, are you running a stock intake,
we've found troubles with the centers reed cage pushing back outta the main frame when ran with a spacer

Yes Stock intake, I Switched back to Stock reeds, same issue... Could the premix be off a little? maybe running 40:1 cause it not to ignite?

do you have good compression?

Not sure, I dont believe i have a comp tester.. id have to go through the garage. but im pretty sure the compression is good.

put it in first gear and push it if the tires drag you should have good enough compression to start or plug the spark plug hole with your finger and kick it over if it blows your finger off of the head you have good enough compression
